BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- University of Tennessee at Chattanooga runner Kennedy Thomson took first in the women's Mile Friday at the Samford Bulldog Invitational.
Â
Thomson ran the middle distance in a blistering 4:48.69, an improvement of the PR time she set earlier this season by nearly five seconds and was 4.6 seconds faster than her nearest competitor, Samford's Mary Grace Strozier. She also beat out Emma Kuntz from Furman who was sixth overall with a time of 5:06.52.
Â
"Coach [Amanda] Cotter does a great job with the middle distance ladies," Chattanooga head coach Andy Meyer said. "She had Kennedy at her best. She ran with heart and executed her race plan to perfection."
Â
In the 200-meter Dash, Sage Davis topped her previous time this season by nearly one second and was second in her heat with a time of 27.04. Hannah Salami was fourth in her heat with a time of 30.16.
Â
"Coach [Michael] Gadson had Sage ready to run and a .74 improvement in a sprint is impressive," Meyer said. "These young ladies have definitely set an inspiring tone for tomorrow!"
Â
The bulk of the races and field events will take place Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex. Live scoring is available at GoMocs.com.
