The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match to Liberty in Fort Myers, Fla., today. The Mocs fall to 7-5 with the loss, while the Flames improve to the same record with their fourth win in a row.
The doubles point was back and forth with senior
Annie Tarwater and freshman
Lilly Holmes winning at No. 2 to open the dual. Liberty took the No. 3 match while the top bout went to a tiebreaker. The Flames' Maria Medina and Lara Soares eventually won the point with a 9-7 victory in the final frame over senior
Delaney Edwards and sophomore
Emma Van Hee.
Liberty kept the momentum going in singles, sweeping all six matches. Only Van Hee's No. 5 bout against Grace Hashiguchi went to three sets [1-6, 6-3, 1-0 (9)].
Next up for the Mocs is the Southern Conference opener against Wofford on March 23 in Spartanburg, S.C.
