SPARTANBURG, S.C.---Chattanooga Mocs senior Monica San Juan is this week's Southern Conference Golfer of the Week for event played March 20-26. It's her second such award and first for a Moc since Megan Woods on March 7 of last year.
 
San Juan is coming off her second top 10 of 2018-19 and eighth of her career tying for ninth at the Hawkeye El Tigre Invitational. Her 4-over 220 matched 47th-ranke Haley Moore from Arizona leading Chattanooga to a fourth-place finish in a field that included eight top 100 squads including her own.
 
She turned in rounds of 73, 72 and 75 to set the Mocs standard for the weekend. That led her crew to four ranked wins including No. 37 Tennessee (3 shots), No. 83 Colorado State (13), No. 84 Idaho (1) and No. 85 BYU (8) along with another power 5 opponent Iowa (18).
 
Her last SoCon Golfer of the Week award came on March 29, 2017. That came after a tie for 23rd finish in the Henssler Intercollegiate against a top field. She tied No. 59 Michaela Finn (Kent State) while defeating 49th-ranked Gabby Barker (Texas Tech) by two.
 
San Juan and her Chattanooga teammates head to Baton Rouge this weekend for the LSU Tiger Golf Classic. The difficult University Club awaits the ladies in a three-day, 54-hole event played Friday through Sunday, March 29-31.

• San Juan has started all 42 tournaments played during her four-year career.
• She leads the squad in scoring (74.04), pars (12.43/18), par or better holes (79.2%) and fewest bogeys (3.22/rd).
• Her 74.04 stroke average is currently in third-place on the season scoring record list, fourth vs. Par (2.43).
