TEAM
- Chattanooga defeated UNCG 72-62 tonight in the quarterfinal round of the Ingles Southern Conference Championship presented by General Shale … the Mocs improve to 14-16 on the year and advance to the semifinal round for the 28th time … UTC will face No. 2 seeded Furman … UNCG falls to 11-19 overall.
 
- The Mocs avenged the loss last season in the quarterfinal round to the Spartans … UNCG beat the Mocs in double overtime.
 
- Chattanooga got out to a 15-2 start in the first quarter and shot 53.3 percent in the period … UNCG shot 18.8 percent in the opening frame … Chattanooga led 23-10.
 
- UNCG cut the Mocs lead to 63-58 in the final quarter with 1:19 to play on a layup by Cece Crudup … the Mocs made 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch and pushed the lead back to double figures, 72-62, on a pair of free throws by Arianne Whitaker.
 
- Chattanooga outrebounded the Spartans 43-39 … UTC shot 40.7 percent (22-54) and 7-of-18 from the 3-point line … the difference in the game came at the free throw line where UTC was 21-of-27.
 
- The Spartans shot 18.8 percent (3-of-16) in the first quarter and 21.1 percent (4-of-19) in the second quarter … they shot 34.7 percent for the game and made 6-of-18 from the 3-point line while making 6-of-14 from the free throw line.
UNCG outscored the Mocs 36-24 in the paint and 13-9 off second chance points, converting 17 offensive rebounds … Chattanooga scored nine points off seven UNCG turnovers while the Spartans scored just five on 13 turnovers.
 
- UTC had matched its season-high for blocked shots with 13 in the game
 
- The Mocs led wire-to-wire.
