Postgame Quotes vs. Wofford

Chattanooga Postgame Quotes
Wofford at Chattanooga
Chattanooga, Tenn. - McKenzie Arena
Thursday, January 16, 2020

Katie Burrows, Head Coach

On what was told to the team after Wofford cut the lead in the second half.
"Just finish strong. Finish strong and get the stops when we need them. They made some plays tonight and capitalized on every mistake we made. Fortunately, we were able to shoot the ball well enough and have a little bit of a buffer. We came out in the second half and lost that lead for a second before getting it back. I'm just super proud of our girls, especially when things weren't going our way. We were still able to get some stops. I just can't say enough about the fight of this team."

On the offense clicking and scoring.
"When you shoot the ball so well, you put so much more pressure on the other team. If you can't put the ball in the hole, it doesn't matter how many stops you get, you have to score more points. It helped that we came out hot tonight. I think the girls are starting to see the benefits of the extra time they have been putting in. It's good, I hope they continue to do it."

On gaining confidence.
"Absolutely. It's been a battle this whole season. Winning always gives you confidence. To be able to win on our home court, finally, it'll give us that confidence we need. Furman is a good team and we have to be on our game. I told the team to bask in the glory for just a second because we have to turn around to another tough one. They're [Furman] on a high, winning, and have all the confidence in the world. We have to come in even bigger than that."

On a long-awaited win on the home court.
"It feels so nice. Everyone smiles at you, wants to hug you and tell you good job. It was really nice because, honestly, we're not used to losing at home. Everyone has just been kind of feeling it. We have a great fan base and they've been feeling it. And we know it. I'm just super thankful for this win tonight."

Eboni Williams, So.-F
On the team gaining momentum.
"It feels really great. We've been working really hard trying to get everything set for SoCon, and it's showing so far."

On what has clicked for the team to start turning things around.
"I think everybody came back with a different mindset, everybody's hungry to play; as you can see, we're fighting. I think we can take this win, celebrate for right now, but not forget the goal. Everybody has to continue to work hard, keep doing the things we've been practicing every day, and double up on it."

On limiting Wofford off the glass.
"I think it was really important because it didn't allow them to get the second chance shots and that extra boost."

Bria Dial, Jr.-F
On the season starting to turn around.
"It feels good to see things finally turning around for us because the beginning of the season didn't go so well for us."

On what the team has worked on to help turn it around.
"I feel like we've just been doing what we always do; we just brought more energy to the team. It felt better, more fire on the court, like we just played together more."

On higher efficiency as a shooter.
"I've been working more. I really haven't been focusing on the three because I feel like I settle a lot. I've been trying to use all my attributes that I can with being a post and a bigger guard on the floor."
