- The Mocs beat Western Carolina 59-52 snapping an 11-game losing skid … UTC is 2-13 overall, 1-0 in SoCon play … WCU is 3-13 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play.
- This was the SoCon opener for both teams.
- After giving up a 3-pointer to start the game, UTC went on a 9-0 run … UTC outscored Western Carolina 14-8 in the first quarter.
- Chattanooga's largest lead of the game was 11 points with 4:27 to play in the third quarter.
- UTC is 78-11 against the Catamounts and 32-6 in Cullowhee dating back to 1979.
- Jewels Smalls was held to five points and eight rebounds, far shy of the 14.9 points and 10.8 rebounds she averages per game … LaPlant, however, picked up some of the slack with 15 points, better than the 10.5 ppg she averages.
