Women’s Golf Surges into 5th in Arkansas

Sophomore Esme Hamilton is in the top 10 after 36 holes at the Lady Red Wolves Classic.

JONESBORO, Ark.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team got off to a slow(ish) start before closing strong over 36 holes of the Lady Red Wolves Classic. The Mocs shot 301 over the first 18 at Sage Meadows Country Club before coming back with 294 in the afternoon round.
 
Esme Hamilton led the charge in the morning. Her level-par 72 was her first par or better card of the season. She was supported by Rachel Thompson next with 75. Daphne van Son shot 76 with the counting cards ending with Beatriz Barrios' 78.
 
Barrios came back with a vengeance in the afternoon. She matched the Mocs low round of the early season with a 2-under 70. Hamilton and Dorota Zalewska turned in 74s, while Rachel Thompson and Daphne van Son each tallied 76.
 
South Alabama holds the early lead following the opening 18 of 287 with an afternoon 289. The Jaguars 576 is 11 better than second-place Troy (587). USA's Julie Hovland is the individual leader at 137.
