JONESBORO, Ark.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team shot their best round of the season Tuesday with a 4-over par 292. They completed the Lady Red Wolves Classic tied for sixth with Middle Tennessee at 887.
 
The finish was strong. After opening the tournament yesterday morning with a 301, the Mocs posted the second-best 36 holes in the field of 586.
 
Today's effort was paced by Esme Hamilton and Beatriz Barrios. The duo carded 2-under 70s. Rachel Thompson added a 75 with Daphne van Son adding 77 to the counting total.
 
Hamilton ended up tied for sixth overall with level-par 216. Barrios was just two behind her tying for 11th at 218 (+2). She shook off an opening 78 playing 4 under the rest of the way.
 
Thompson was next on the squad with 226 followed by van Son's 229. Dorota Zalewska carded 232 for her 54 holes, while Jefimija Dordevic totaled 236 as an individual.
 
South Alabama swept team and medalist trophies. The Jaguars shot 866 as a team behind Julie Hovland's winning effort of 8-under 208.
 
Hamilton and Barrios finishes marked back-to-back efforts to start the season with multiple top 20s. The last time the Mocs had back-to-back events with multiple top 20s was 2017-18. That season included four in a row to start the spring portion of the schedule also by three different student-athletes:
 - Moon Golf Invite: Monica San Juan (T2), Megan Woods (T8)
 - UNF Collegiate: Megan Woods (T6), Cristina Perez (14)
 - Hawkeye-El Tigre Invite: Cristina Perez (T9), Monica San Juan (T15)
 - LSU Tiger Golf Classic: Cristina Perez (T8), Monica San Juan (T19)
 
The Mocs return to action Oct. 25-26 at the Terrier Intercollegiate. Wofford hosts the event at the Country Club of Spartanburg.
