Zeke Washington Joining the Wrestling Program

GoMocs.com's informal meet the newcomer series with Chattanooga wrestling continues this week.  Today we introduce incoming freshman Zeke Washington, from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

"Zeke comes here with a great work ethic and attitude," stated UTC head coach Kyle Ruschell.  "He is just a work horse and does what is asked of him.  The depth in our wrestling room is starting to get fun to watch every day around those weights.  These guys have to bring it."

Washington originally signed with the Mocs as part of the 2019 class, but took a grayshirt last year.  A two-time state finalist, he was 71-8 in his two seasons of prep competition at Owasso (Okla.) High School.

Competing for head coach Mike Ryan, Washington was 32-5 at 120 pounds as a senior.  He is expected to compete at 141 pounds as a freshman with the Mocs.

"His high school coach has a long history of training athletes that are successful at the next level," added Ruschell.  "Coach Ryan coached at St. Paris Graham in Ohio for years before moving to Oklahoma.  I have full confidence that Zeke will be able to push the guys in our room right away and won't back down from anyone."

Washington is the son of Joe and Sandy Washington.  He has five sisters, Alexis, Patricia, Chantel, Laschia and Maria, and one brother, Jeremy.
