ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
BIRMINGHAM---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team shot 306 over the final 18 of the Hoover Invitational. That left the squad with a three-round total of 901 and a seventh-place ending which was six better than Troy in eighth.
Sophomore
Esme Hamilton and freshman
Beatriz Barrios completed the day with matching 76s. Freshmen Daphne Van Son and
Rachel Thompson were one behind at 77, while sophomore
Dorota Zalewska turned in a 79. Another freshman,
Jefimija Dordevic, tied Barrios and Hamilton's 76.
Barrios tied for 16th overall at 222. Thompson was two behind with 224 which tied for 20th, while Van Son made it three freshmen in the top half of the field along with Hamilton's tie for 30th. Last time two Mocs freshmen finished in the top 20 of their first event? The 2008 Chris Banister Gamecock Classic [Maria Salinas (9) & Maria Juliana Loza (T18)]. That season, the Mocs finished the year in the NCAA Championships.
Indianapolis shot 3-under 285 to switch places with 36-hole leader Western Kentucky winning by six strokes. Indy's Pilar Echeverria was the medalist shooting 213 (-3).
