Head Coach Katie Burrows
Opening thoughts on the win:
"We scored a few more points than we did the other day, but so did they.  Just a few more though.  Just real darn proud of our kids.  Can't express enough just the fight that they still have in them.  When I challenge them, they step up to the challenge.  We just have to start out that way.  It was vice-versa at Furman, started out real strong and deflated.  Now we just have to put two game together.

"This is why coaches don't like this particular format. Very quick time to turn around and you have that chip on your shoulder and it is immediate.  You get a chance to get rid of it."

On the play of senior Bria Dial:
"She got ticked off (scoreless on Thursday), because she didn't get any looks the other day and she wasn't a factor.   She said, you know what, I am going to find a way to be a factor today.  She attacked the rim.  What that does is it puts a little more pressure on them.  We did a really good job too of getting the ball high and looking for her on those back cuts.  She is sealing and is real physical down there.  FYI, she is not just a stand still three-point shooter.

"We had five in double-figures and our starters just killed it today.  We had some opportunities for some reserves to come in and give them some quality minutes and get a breath.  Just real proud of the overall effort."

On the defense against Mercer:
"Shannon Titus struggled in the last game, just like Bria did, and she had a chip on her shoulder and said she was going to be a factor.  She made some really tough shots today.  Hats off to her and congrats to her for getting her 1,000th point a couple of weeks ago.  We got to acknowledge that today.  They's have some good players, but we did a really good job of being in their face."

On scoring in the paint:
"That was our focus yesterday (in practice).  I felt like we just didn't get the ball inside enough last game and there were so many opportunities.  They were playing a triangle and two against us to start that game and we just got stagnant, but they were so wide open in the middle.  They couldn't do that today, because we had other people becoming a factor by seeing all of these open whole.  I can attack the paint, or I can get the ball inside to the post and let them work.
