Game 5 – at Kennesaw State – Nov. 23 - KSU Convocation CenterÂ
Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Katie Burrows:
Opening statement:Â
"It's the turnovers. We didn't take care of the ball. We were talking about it at halftime. It was sometimes the quick shots we were taking which is just as good for them as turnovers. That's what Kennesaw State wants to do. They want to pressure you into taking those shots and get you out of your rhythm. We shot the ball better tonight and would have shot even better if we would have taken care of the ball. We outrebounded them, just not offensively. When it came down to it, we hit our free throws and hit 10 threes. Things are starting to come together."Â
On four players scoring 10+ points:
"We finally connected. They scored 75 points and we gave them many more opportunities. When we are in the half court defense we played really well. In 24 turnovers we only gave up 12 fast break points so we are hustling and getting back. There are so many young kids out there and they are going to get better at it. Abbey [Cornelius] never has four turnovers. She needs to learn when they aren't making the call on that contact, she just needs to pull up and rip."Â
On outscoring KSU in the second half:Â
"I think they had 11 assists in the first half and only had 13 total, so we did a good job of taking care of their offense. Again, I go back to the turnovers. If we just take care of the ball, we will be fine. We are getting one step closer."
Moving forward
"We have another chance on Saturday. It's going to be another aggressive team. We need to learn from this and take it into Saturday."
