CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga Mocs dropped in 10 3-pointers and ran away with a 70-42 win over Georgia College in a women's basketball exhibition matchup at the McKenzie Arena Friday night.
 
Freshman Destiny McClendon was 3-of-4 from long range in her collegiate debut and led the Mocs with 14 points in 16:30 on the floor.
 
Also in double digits and dangerous from the arc was Dena Jarrells who shot 4-of-7 from the 3-point line with 12 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.
 
Chattanooga's preseason all-conference pick Abbey Cornelius scored 13 points, had a team-best six rebounds and four assists, no turnovers and blocked three shots.
 
Head coach Katie Burrows was able to clear the bench and all five newcomers contributed to the win. McClendon added three assists and two rebounds. Karsen Murphy and Leah Jones each pulled down five boards with Jones grabbing four on the offensive end. Addie Grace Porter also had five rebounds to go along with three steals and Lara Habling drew three fouls and was perfect from the free throw line.
 
Georgia College, led by former Mocs team manager Ross Jolly in his third season, out rebounded the Mocs 52-46 but only managed two points off 18 offensive boards.
 
Cierra Foster had a team-high nine points making 4-of-7 from the field for the Bobcats. Alexa Geary, with a pair of fourth quarter 3-pointers, added eight points and Savannah Casey chipped in seven.
 
Anaya Cone had nine boards for Georgia College with six off the offensive glass and Jada Warren and Amelia Wylly each had eight.
 
The Mocs scored 20 points off 21 GCSU miscues and edged them on points in the paint 26-18. UTC was 27-of-75 in the game and led 41-22 at the half. In the third quarter, Chattanooga held Georgia College to just two points, pushing its lead to 57-24 after 30 minutes.
 
The Bobcats stepped up in the fourth, outscoring UTC 18-13, cutting eight points off the Mocs largest lead of the game for the final score 70-42.
 
Chattanooga opens the season Tuesday, November 9 at home against Belmont. The game is set to tip off at 7:00 p.m. at The McKenzie Arena. Season and single-game tickets are on sale online at GoMocs.com or the arena box office.
