Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Katie Burrows:
On the game after getting off to the strong start.
"It's very frustrating. We start off so strong and we're getting stops and knocking down shots, they hit a couple buckets and they cut it, and still we're right back in it the whole time.

Their opponents have like 80 more turnovers than JSU does this season and we fell right into that. They pressed us maybe eight times in the game and most of it was at the end. It's not like people are forcing us to turn the ball over, we're doing it to ourselves. We didn't maximize our possessions and then we only lose by 10. I can't get my kids to understand the value in the ball. That is the one thing you have to have in order to win the ball game and we're just giving it away frivolously.

They did a really good job of isolating mismatches when they needed to and sucking us in and kicking it out. They hit five more threes than we did, and we lost by 10. Abbey [Cornelius] did a good job. Addie [Grace Porter] and Brooke [Hampel] followed suit.

We had silly turnovers and gave up so many offensive rebounds...three of them in the first half were off a foul shot. We aren't executing those things when we need to. When you're lacking depth it can be hard, but that's not an excuse, you still have to push through."

On Addie Grace Porter's effort.
"She battles. She had a couple of three-point looks early on and they did a good job closing tight on her. She is shooting the best 3-point percentage on the team right now so we definitely want to get her some looks. For us to only take seven threes in a game, that's impressive. On a few of those, we should've taken more and not bounced the ball into the paint."

On the start of Southern Conference action next week.
"It's hard to believe and at the same time I'm ready for it. I am ready to get settled into a consistent schedule and the girls are too. I think it'll help their mindset as well, knowing what's coming.
