Mocs End Season With Loss to Samford

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women's tennis team closed out the 2021 season with a 6-1 loss to Samford at the UTC Tennis Center today.  The Mocs end the year with a 9-9 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Southern Conference action.  Samford improved to 14-10 overall and 4-3 in league action.

UTC's No. 3 duo of Polina Goloputova and Callie Billman had a 7-5 win over Samantha Nanere and Olivia Jablonski in the only doubles victory for the Mocs. 

Emma Van Hee scored the lone point for Chattanooga with a singles win at No. 2.  She defeated Natalia De Ugarte in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-3).  The win gave her a 64-41 career singles record, passing Shaina Singh (2009-12) for sixth-most on record at UTC.

The Mocs finished tied for fifth in the SoCon standings with UNCG (6-8, 2-5 SoCon).  Only the top four teams advanced to the SoCon Tournament next weekend in Birmingham, Ala.
