ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
MACON, Ga.---It was a tale of two rounds for the Chattanooga Mocs Monday at the Brickyard Collegiate. The Brickyard Golf Club was extremely stingy over the opening 18, but the Mocs responded to the stiff challenge over round two to rise into fifth place at 617 heading into Tuesday's final day.
Chattanooga sat in 11th after the morning round posting 319.
Esme Hamilton led the group with a 77 just ahead of
Dorota Zalewska's 79.
Daphne van Son added 80 with
Jefimija Dordevic's 83 completing the team score.
Beatriz Barrios had the drop score of 85. That tied for the highest team number this season, but it did drag the quintet down.
Barrios was especially impressive in her response improving 12 strokes to lead the afternoon scores with a 1-over 73. van Son was right behind with 74 one clear of Hamilton's 75 and one more to Zalewska's 76. Hamilton birdied three of her last five holes to aid six-position push up the leaderboard into fifth.
UCF has the lead with the most consistent performance with 298 and 295 for 593 which is six ahead of host Mercer in second. Kennesaw State is third with 605 followed by Furman's 607. The Mocs are fifth with Memphis (618), Florida Atlantic (619) and North Florida (622).
The final round starts Tuesday morning. Pairings, when available, are linked above.
