The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 match at Samford this evening.  The Mocs took one singles match in the five-hour affair that was forced to move indoors due to inclement weather in Birmingham, Ala.

UTC fall to 7-10 overall and 2-3 in Southern Conference play.  The Bulldogs improved to 12-6 and remained unbeaten in SoCon action at 5-0. 

Samford swept the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.  The Bulldogs have three indoor courts on campus, so match 1-3 were up first.  UTC scored its only point of the day when senior Turner Voges defeated Victor Chaw at No. 2.  Voges needed tiebreakers in both sets [7-6 (5), 7-6 (3)] to improve to 10-5 at No. 2 in the spring.

Up next is Sunday's home match against Mercer (10-12, 3-2 SoCon).  First serve is Noon (E.D.T.) at the UTC Tennis Center.  The Mocs are currently fifth in the SoCon standings, one-game behind the Bears.  UTC needs to finish in the top four to advance to the SoCon Tournament on April 23-24 in Birmingham, Ala.
