Spring 2021 GPA

Mocs Post 3.304 GPA in the Spring Semester

Drayton Arnold & Emma Van Hee are two of the 59 Mocs who posted a 4.0 GPA in the spring.

20% of all student-athletes at UTC scored a 4.0 GPA for the term.

Student-athletes at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga continue to impress with another strong semester in the classroom.  Final grades have been tallied for the 2021 spring semester, and UTC finished the term with a 3.304 overall student-athlete grade-point-average.

The Mocs tied a school record with 14 programs posting a 3.0 team GPA for the third semester in a row. The overall GPA is also the third-highest on record with the top three marks coming in the last three terms.

“Our student-athletes continue to do an outstanding job in the classroom,” stated Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics Mark Wharton.  “They compete at a high level, represent our University and community the right way, and I could not be prouder of their continued academic accomplishments across the board.”

The 3.304 GPA trails only the 3.309 set in the fall and the the 3.421 from the spring of 2020.  Women’s tennis led the way for the first time with a 3.77 team GPA.  All nine members of coach Chad Camper’s team made the Dean’s List in the spring.

“As always, we are proud to acknowledge the work of our academic support staff and the role they played in this accomplishment,” added Wharton.  “They have met the challenges that came with the COVID-19 pandemic head on and continued to provide guidance and services to our student-athletes to ensure their success.”

Overall, 65 percent of all student-athletes made the Dean's List with a 3.2 GPA or higher, while 74% percent made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 GPA or higher.  In addition, 20 percent of all student-athletes (59 overall) had a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring, the second-highest percentage in school history.

Among the 59 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA were All-Southern Conference selections Abbey Cornelius (women's basketball), McClendon Curtis and Cole Strange (football), Tomas Rodriguez (men's tennis) and Emma Van Hee (women's tennis).
