CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs are ready to hit the summer months in full stride thanks to a new addition. Arriving just in time to welcome student-athletes returning to campus for summer classes and workouts, Gerry Pacitti is added as the Director of Athletics Performance.

Pacitti leads the strength and conditioning efforts for the athletics department with specific emphasis on the football program. That's a sport he has a great depth of experience in.

"We're excited getting Gerry on board," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Mark Wharton shared. "His experience and energy are a great addition for all of our programs but specifically football.

"We believe he fits the environment of both our department as well as that particular sport jelling seamlessly with that staff."

He worked directly with the Virginia (2016) and Maryland (2017) in season, along with a spring development program at Alabama (2016). Those professional internships included melding strength and mental approaches to preparation and growth within the student-athletes.

Pacitti comes to the Scenic City from Southeastern Louisiana where he trained 2020-21 Walter Payton Award winner Cole Kelley. The West Depford, N.J., native led the Lions sports performance efforts from August 2017 until this move. There he focused on football and baseball with the Lions reaching the second round of the 2019 FCS Playoffs on the gridiron. Both programs consistently competed for Southland Conference titles.

He started his professional career at Seton Hill. There he was the Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2014-16. That came after a 4-year starting career on the offensive line at Widener University in Chester, Pa. Pacitti earned all-conference honors and was team captain as the squad reached the quarterfinals of the Division III playoffs giving him experience at all levels of NCAA football.

Pacitti is certified by both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He and his wife Emily have a newborn daughter, Olivia. They also have two French Bulldogs (one showing just how great a fit for the job he is), Scrappy and Rocky.

He is not the only new addition to the Mocs administration and support staff recently. Kaelin King joined as learning specialist along with new golf complex superintendent Chip Ward.
