SPARTANBURG, S.C.---Chattanooga Mocs juniors Dorota Zalewska and Esme Hamilton got the 2021-22 season off to a great start this week in Knoxville. The duo continue those good feelings earning Southern Conference co-Golfer of the Week honors. Dorota ZalewskaEsme Hamilton
Zalewska and Hamilton tied for second at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate yesterday. Their two-day, 54-hole total of 2-under 211 led the Mocs into a tie for third beating the likes of host Tennessee (2 strokes), Texas Tech (4) Maryland (5). Other notable wins included Virginia Tech (7), ETSU (9), defending champ Kent State (14), Middle Tennessee (16) and Mercer (26).
Zalewska set new career bests for 18 (68), 36 (139) and 54-hole (211) scoring. The runner-up finish was the second in four events dating back to the spring for Hamilton. The duo marked the first honorees for the weekly honor this season. It is the second such honor for Hamilton who also won Golfer of the Week on Oct. 9, 2019 after tying the school scoring record at the Princess Anne Invitational.
The Mocs are right back in action Friday at the Mason Rudolph Championships in Franklin, Tenn. They attack the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course with 18 holes per day concluding Sunday against another top-flight field.
