CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team secured six doubles victories between numerous flights on the opening day of the Stetson Invite in sunny DeLand, Fla., on Friday afternoon.
"The team had a great first day in competition. The new players used the opportunity to shine," said head coach
Chad Camper. "A few adjustments will continue as we compete tomorrow."
DOUBLES
In the Flight B doubles category, the duo of
Emma Van Hee and
Coco Bosman captured a 6-4 win over Stetson's Elodie Foster Alanna Di Francesco before Van Hee and
Nicole Abel claimed a dominant 6-1 victory over the Hatters' Noa Cohen and Laia Pasini.
In Flight C doubles, the combo of
Wilma Bergqvist and
Caroline Gibbens earned an impressive 6-1 decision over the hosts' Tess Menten and Laetitia Rizk. Bosman and
Jada Young followed with another decisive 6-1 win over Louisiana's Eleanor Campbell and Miranda Kawula.
Moving into Flight D,
Lilly Holmes and Bergqvist rolled to a similar 6-1 count advantage over Menten and Rizk while Young and Holmes battled to a 6-3 win over Daliyah Hammoud and Anna Dovgopolyi.
