Mocs Post 3.190 GPA in the Fall Semester

60% of all student-athletes made the Dean's List (3.2 GPA) and 72% of all student-athletes made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA).

With start of classes for Spring 2022 kicking off this week, the Chattanooga Mocs continue their tradition of celebrating the academic successes from the fall term.  UTC student-athletes had another outstanding showing in the classroom, posting a 3.190 overall grade-point-average in the fall of 2021.

A total of 12 programs finished with a 3.0 team GPA or higher, led by the women’s cross country squad with a 3.802.  The overall GPA is the fifth-highest on record, with all five coming in the last five terms.

“Our academic success has been a cornerstone of achievement and one of our pillars of success for UTC Athletics for a long time,” stated Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics Mark Wharton. “It is not easy to maintain such a high level, but I appreciate the across-the-board commitment to achieving excellence in the classroom by our student-athletes, coaches and staff.”

All totaled, 60 percent of UTC’s student-athletes made the Dean's List with a 3.2 GPA or higher, while 72 percent were on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll (3.0+ GPA).  In addition, 55 had a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall, the fourth-highest percentage (18%) in school history.

Some notables among those with a 4.0 include volleyball senior Maia Rackel who was named to the All-SoCon team.  Cross Country’s Emma Russum and soccer’s Sylvia Keck made SoCon All-Freshman teams for their respective sports.
