Postgame Notes
TEAM
- Chattanooga fell 56-54 at Belmont … UTC evens its record at 1-1 while Belmont takes it season-opening win to go 1-0 … UTC is 11-7 against the Bruins and have lost the last four meetings.
- The Mocs held a 14-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter but were outscored 25-9 in the final frame … Belmont was 11-of-13 in the fourth quarter from the free throw line compared to UTC's 3-of-4 effort.
- UTC never trailed in the game until there was 25 seconds left in the game. Belmont's D Wells made a pair of free throws to make it 55-54 … UTC was held scoreless over the final 1:19.
- The Mocs outrebounded Belmont 39-31 and had eight second chance points on 10 offensive boards. Belmont scored nine of 14 offensive rebounds.
- UTC had 22 turnovers in the game, nine in the fourth quarter, for 23 points while UTC scored eight on 10 Bruin miscues.
- In the paint, the Mocs dominated the Bruins 28-8 while Belmont outscored UTC off the bench 18-3.
- The Mocs shot 64.3% in the first quarter and 77.8% in the third while shooting 44.9 percent for the game … the fourth quarter saw UTC make only 3-of-14 chances.
- UTC held Belmont to 28.1 percent shooting (16-57) … the Bruins cleaned up on the free throw line making 16-of-23 compared to 6-of-7 for the Mocs … from beyond the arc, Belmont was 8-of-27 and UTC was 4-of-10.
- The Mocs have made at least one 3-pointer in 711 consecutive games, unofficially, second to Iowa State who has made more than 850.
