Postgame Quotes

Chattanooga Head Coach Shawn Poppie

On how the team competed against Tennessee
"That's the most disappointed I've been all year with our effort. Do I think the bench was trying? Yes. And when we got out there, there was there was an intimidation factor in my opinion, that we couldn't quite get over. They're big. Really, really big. Did I think we had times in the second half where we competed? Yes. I was disappointed that we looked intimidated for the first time all year and it affected - so maybe that's part of the effort. I don't I don't really know maybe how to describe it. I was just really disappointed with I didn't think that we had that same fire to us that we had down in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

On what to take from the game
"You look at us all year, maybe in stretches there in the fourth against Belmont, but I don't know what the biggest scoring run has been on anybody we've played all year. Doesn't feel like we've gotten really punched in the mouth or we got to really try to dig in deep and find a way. This was the first time and so it'll be good to get back and watch the film and learn from it and challenge one another including myself. I gotta be better. I can't hold everything on top of just them. It's me too. And so we have to learn. There's a lot that went into it. A lot of gas left that tank on Saturday and to try to turn around and do it back-to-back. I've been in the ACC and when you go through the stretches, that's what us mid-majors realize. You go down to Alabama and you give everything you got. You got to turn around two days later and try to give it against a really darn good Tennessee team on the road. It's a learning process. We didn't have a ton of gas it didn't look like in my opinion, so it'd be good to get some rest and back to the drawing board and finish out the next three before Christmas."

On the play of the second half
"We got outscored 18-10 in the fourth. We went through a little stretch there, we got three or four really good looks. I thought we finally executed and made the right passes, as the quick one-mores and we just missed a couple of shots. I was happy with where we'd gotten it."

On getting to play almost everyone
"It was good to get out there and get some other kids some minutes. We've been playing that that first five or six a lot of minutes. And so you know we had a chance to play a few others there down the stretch and [Amaria Pugh] got in there a little bit more than she has. It'll be good for them too because there were a lot of times that that what we've been saying leading up to today showed out there so now they'll see it against some live film in coverages."
