Head Coach Katie Burrows
On the emotions of the team at the end of the game
"We're just dying for wins. We've had some adversity hit us and now we're having to ask other folks to step up and I felt like Karsen [Murphy] did that for us today with blocked shots, points and rebounds. They're upset because they fought so hard. I get it. But they fought hard for 20 minutes. Where was the first 20? The last two games we've been so flat in the first half and I felt like, offensively, that we weren't knocking down the shots early. We were getting good looks and just couldn't hit and that's going to happen.

"It was emotional for everybody because we're better than this. We really are. You can say we're young, whatever. But we're better than this and the expectation is definitely higher."

On the frustration of this game
"It's a helpless feeling because I can't physically go out there and do it for him. You know, and I tried to change things up to help them, trying to get them to communicate with me what you know, how can I help you? And like I say we had a good talk at halftime and we're were able to make those adjustments. Then the unfortunate thing was we'd have a turnover or give up an offensive rebound and a very untimely point in the game and just couldn't quite put the nail in the coffin. I told him I was very proud of the way that they battled back and very frustrated that we even had to be in that situation."

On Karsen Murphy's effort today with Abbey Cornelius missing from the lineup
"Well, she [Karsen] started cleaning stuff up for us you know that's usually Abbey's role, right? Clean stuff up before some people get by us and get to the rim and she did that for us today. In blocked shots and rebounds and then offensively was able to knock down some shots in very key moments. So yeah, just to give us those quality minutes. Definitely just shows that she has just improved and I think she's becoming a little more settled in her role. I think she wants more responsibility. Well, guess what, she will get more responsibility. And I think she'll take it on with open arms and continue to play. I think this is who she is. I don't think this is a fluke because she's been getting better and better and better every game. So she want her to keep building on that. This is fine. We don't need her to do more than this. We need her to just keep doing what she's doing and then everybody else needs to surround her and we had a couple other people step up offensively, you know, Amaria hit her foul shots. Dena hit her foul shots. We were cold from the three point line in the first half. Brooke opened it up for us in the second half. And so we had some folks come along and and hit a few of those. We just we got to put it all together."

On the impact that this team can make over the last two weeks and still make an impact in the SoCon Tournament

"Just the simple fact that that last 20 minutes of the game they played the way that they did with the with the level of intensity. They've got it in them. It's just it's just finding that for the entire game. And I think it builds confidence for some of these young ones.

"Not as many minutes but Addie Grace had four rebounds and two assists with no turnovers today. That's big from a freshman point guard. She usually squeaks out with at least a couple. No, not today. She took very good care of the ball. I go back to Amaria again. You know, she didn't shoot it well from the field, but she did a good job from the foul line and got us a couple offensive rebounds and had four steals today. You know, so she created some offense with her defense. I was real proud of both of their efforts. And then of course, Dena hit some big shots when we needed them and obviously just would have liked to have seen them hit more from the field but was, you know, just proud that they fought to try to get us back in that and gave us a chance we just obviously fell short."

On the quality of shots today
"Yes, I'm happy with the quality of shots. Early in the fourth, it kind of felt like we were settling for 3's when we weren't hitting them at the time. So I kind of would have liked to have seen us maybe reverse that that one more time, though."
