Postgame Quotes vs. Wofford

Chattanooga Basketball Postgame Quotes
Chattanooga vs. Wofford
The McKenzie Arena --- Chattanooga, Tenn.
Saturday – February 26, 2022

HEAD COACH KATIE BURROWS

On the finish to the game
"I'm so tired of being in these situations. I don't know why our defense in the first half wasn't reflective of what we looked like in the second half. I can't understand what it is that ignites them. It can't be so stagnant and not being able to stay in front of anybody. I know they subbed and had some younger kids in there, but even when they had their starters in there, we were doing a much better job in the third quarter and the fourth.

On the 3-pointers
"The last two games, we've taken 31 3s in both game. Today we hit 11 and they only had 13. We really caught up to them. When we weren't hitting in the first half, we were settling for them instead of trying to get different looks."

"I was real proud of Mari in the way that she stepped up and knocked down those 3s today. Obviously Destiny hit a couple and Dena hit some as well. Where is that early on in the game? I'm just real frustrated in how we played that first half."

On the free throws late in the game
"We did a really good job form the free thro line. I hope we continue to do that in the tournament as well.

We outrebounded them, but gave up 10 offensive rebounds. Really kind of frustrated that we didn't get more of those. We shared the ball well today.

On Karsen Murphy's contributions
"I have been really proud of the way she has stepped into that roll and embraced us needing her to score a little bit, but most of all to defend. She's not a banger defender. She's more of a true forward. She did a really good job of taking away their left shoulder. Been proud of the way that she produced for us.

On Abbey Cornelius' return to the court
"We were not allowed to push her. We definitely needed her out there today just to kind of get a feel for it. We'll see how she feels tomorrow. She's probably going to be really sore. She was winded today. She's obviously going to be a huge factor for us next week so we're excited to get her back on the court."

On Senior Pare Pene's final home game
"I hate that we couldn't pull that out for her. What an amazing human being she is. What a great teammate she's been. She's going to be a great mentor for somebody someday. "
