Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Katie Burrows:
On the team's effort and battling.
"Today I felt like it was 10 minutes of offense and defense collectively and 20 minutes of defense. I thought we did better in the second half at both and we can't dig out of those holes. We aren't mature enough yet to get out of those holes. We didn't connect at all on either level in the first quarter. In the second, I felt like we got better offensively but defense we weren't communicating. It was two people just running after the ball. Samford did a good job burning us. We have a whole week preparing for ETSU. We are going to spend the first two, preparing about us."

Brooke Hampel's effort on the offensive boards.
"Brooke has done that the last few games, just finding those seams and giving us those extra opportunities. We aren't shooting the ball well consistently. She has given us extra chances consistently. She didn't get as many minutes but Amaria [Pugh] got a few, and Sigrun [Olafsdottir] and Leah [Jones] got a couple today too. Yes, we got 12 [offensive rebounds], but we gave up 15. We did such a better job on Thursday, we weren't physical enough today. When you have bigger players like that, you have to do better early."

On Karsen Murphy playing the 'five'.
"She is definitely out of her element in that. She is working her tail off to do what we are asking her. We have had to make the biggest adjustments with her, she is quick and athletic. We are working with her and she is getting better about getting behind her opponent and get the ball. For her, she is playing with a lot more confidence than she had been. She knows we need her to step up. I have been really proud of her effort that she is putting up to help her team."
