Cross Country Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga men's and women's cross country teams were named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Teams the organization announced.
 
The men posted a 3.687 team GPA and ranked eighth in the nation. Master's Candidate Jonathan Boyd along with sophomores Eric Mitchell and Eammon O'Bryant all recorded a 4.0 GPA in the fall. Seven were named to the UTC Dean's List and all eight earned a spot on the Mocs Athletics Director's Honor Roll. All six eligible members were selected to the Southern Conference Fall All-Academic Team.
 
Northern Arizona was named the Men's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country season. The Lumberjacks, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.160, won the team title at the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. This is the fourth time in program history that NAU has been named the Men's Scholar Team of the Year during the cross country season, adding to their haul from 2020, 2016 and 2013.
 
Overall, there were 150 different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. No team posted a better cumulative GPA than Creighton.
 
The women ranked 12th overall by the USTFCCCA with a 3.8017 GPA. Six members posted a perfect 4.0 in the fall that included juniors Carley Burt, Emmy Davis, Julianna McReynolds and Emma Russum along with seniors Morgan Oullette and Ashtyn Hagood. All 16 were named to the UTC Dean's List and Athletics Director's Honor Roll and all 10 eligible members earned a spot on the SoCon Fall All-Academic Team.
 
NC State was named the Women's Scholar Team of the Year for the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country season. The Wolfpack, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.580, won the team title at the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. This is the first time in program history that NC State has been named Women's Scholar Team of the Year in cross country, indoor track & field and/or outdoor track & field.
 
Overall, there were 168 different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2021 season. No teams posted a better cumulative GPA than Georgia State University.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
