ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
BOULDER CITY, Nev.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team finished seventh at the Jackrabbit Invitational. The Mocs 902 total included a final round 305 that included two top performances.
Esme Hamilton was one of seven in the 90-player field to post a card in the 60s. Her 3-under 69 matched her round two tally making her one of two in the top 5 for the Mocs. Hamilton tied for second with 3-under 213, her best score against par this season and third time shooting par or better for a tournament in 2021-22.
Dorota Zalewska ended the week just the way she started it. She turned in 1-under 71 over her final 18 to end the 54 holes at 215, 1-under par. That was good for a tie for fifth.
Carolina Hortian shot 232, while
Megan Docherty added 242 to round out the team scores.
"Esme had a good event," Coach
Colette Murray shared. "Something clicked for her this week which we hope will continue for the rest of the season. She has all the ability in the world. Dori wasn't far behind her…solid golf from the pair of them. We are looking forward to staying home for our next event."
More Hamilton. The par or better card today is No. 25 for her career at Chattanooga with more than a third coming this season (8). She had 12 birdies and 26 pars over her last 44 holes at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
Zalewska's top 5 is her third of the season in the seventh event. It marks her fifth top 10 as the opening and closing 71s gets her to 10 par or better scores on the year.
Middle Tennessee won the title with an even-par 864. Rutgers' Anna-Maria Diederichs won medalist honors with a 7-under 209. That was four better than Hamilton and two others in second. The Mocs are off until March 27-29 hosting the Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club.
