CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Southern Conference foe Mercer on late Monday evening inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center on the campus of The McCallie School.

Following the win, Chattanooga moves to 12-7 overall this season and 3-2 inside SoCon play. Mercer falls to 6-13 overall and 0-5 in the league after the defeat.

Chattanooga took an early 1-0 lead after doubles competition. Emma Van Hee and Nicole Abel clinched the point behind a thrilling 7-6 victory in the No. 2 slot after the duo of Callie Billman and Coco Bosman kicked off doubles play with a 6-1 rout.

In singles action, the Mocs saw four victories in the No. 3 through No. 6 matchups. Caroline Gibbens secured the match behind a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 3 while Van Hee (7-5, 6-1), Billman (6-2, 6-2) and Bosman (6-0, 6-2) each earned wins in rather convincing fashion.

Chattanooga returns to action on Thursday, April 14, when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., to face SoCon rival Samford. First serve is slated for 3 p.m. ET.
