Women’s Golf Turns Eye to 2022-23

Chattanooga Mocs Coach Colette Murray brings back senior Dorota Zalewska along with three talented returnees and three exciting newcomers.

CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team turns an optimistic eye to the 2022-23 season. There are a lot of positives about the seven-player roster for 16-year Head Coach Colette Murray. It is, perhaps, her most competitive squad for lineup spots.
Senior Dorota Zalewska is back for a fifth season utilizing the NCAA's COVID eligibility exception. She's won four of her last five events with two coming for Chattanooga – Brickyard Collegiate & Southern Conference Championships – and two coming in international play at the Polish Ladies Open and German International Amateur.
Junior Beatriz Barrios is back in action after missing the spring portion of the season due to injury. She recently had a top 10 at the Campeonato Internacional Absoluto de Andalucia. Rising sophomores Megan Docherty and Carolina Hortian also return providing Murray with a solid core. Docherty has a top 10 this summer at the Scottish Women's Amateur.
Newcomers include Oklahoma transfer Nieves Martin, Ecuador's Isabella Yu Lee and South African Kera Healey. Martin has ranked in the top 400 amateurs in the world as has Yu Lee. Isabella has three top 10s in 2022, including a junior win in Ecuador and top 25 in the South American Women's Am. Healey boasts a win, three top 3s and five top 10s in seven 2022 starts.
"On paper, I am as excited about this team as I've ever been about any of our teams," Murray explained. "We have a tremendous amount of depth and a lot of talent which will hopefully lead to a lot of competition within our squad. Women's Golf in the SoCon continues to be very strong. If our young ladies play the way they are capable of playing, we are confident that we can get back on top with this group."
The 2022-23 schedule will be posted soon. It begins in New Orleans in September with an eye on returning to the NCAA Championships finals in Scottsdale, Ariz., in late May. The ladies are hosting the Chattanooga Classic again, April 2-4, at Council Fire Golf Club.
