CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs are looking forward to an exciting 2022-23 wrestling campaign. An ambitious ledger awaits including one of the nation's premier events returning to the Roundhouse in the New Year's standard, the Southern Scuffle.

This schedule contains seven home matches. Southern Conference opponents Davidson, Gardner-Webb, Campbell and Bellarmine come to the Scenic City along with Iowa, West Virginia and Indiana. The match with the Hawkeyes is a day-night doubleheader with the men's basketball program in McKenzie Arena.

"Having Iowa come to Chattanooga is a big deal," Coach Kyle Ruschell shared. "They are one of the premier wrestling programs in the country. The last time they were here Maclellan was jam packed. I cannot wait to see the crowd we can get for December 10th in the Roundhouse."

The 2022-23 campaign starts in First Horizon Pavilion with the Blue-Gold Match prior to the Oct. 22 football matchup with Mercer. The Blue-Gold exhibition is one of the most eagerly anticipated football tailgating events each year.

The season officially begins on November 5 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Battle in the River City features the Mocs, Wisconsin, Little Rock and Buffalo. A week later is The Citadel Open followed by three matches at Purdue with the Boilermakers, Northern Illinois and Cleveland State.

The Mocs come out of Thanksgiving break with a trip to Illinois. The Hawkeyes follow before matches with SIUE and Clarion at Gardner-Webb carry the squad into the Holidays. The Southern Scuffle returns Jan. 1-2 before it's all duals all the time beginning with a trip to VMI.

"The Southern Scuffle is the best college tournament in the country, and this year is no different," Ruschell added. "We have National Champions and All Americans competing for two days in our house. It allows our community to get here and watch our Mocs wrestle the best."

The Southern Conference Championships return to Boone, N.C., on March 4. The Mocs head into 2022-23 in search of their 18th SoCon Regular Season and 30th tournament titles. Tulsa, Okla., is the host site for the NCAA Championships.
