Mocs Post 3.187 GPA in the Fall Semester

61% of all student-athletes made the Dean's List (3.2 GPA) and 72% of all student-athletes made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA).

With start of classes for Spring 2023 kicking off this week, the Chattanooga Mocs continue their tradition of celebrating the academic successes from the fall term.  UTC student-athletes had another outstanding showing in the classroom, posting a 3.187 overall grade-point-average in the fall of 2022.

A total of 12 programs finished with a 3.0 team GPA or higher, led by the women’s cross country squad with a 3.636.  The overall GPA is the seventh-highest on record, with each benchmark coming in the last seven terms. 

UTC will recognize the student-athletes listed below at the annual basketball Academic Night on January 18.  The ceremony is at halftime of the men’s basketball game again Furman at 7:00 p.m. Ticket are on sale now by clicking here. 

“Our student-athletes are well-known for their academic success in the classroom,” stated Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics Mark Wharton. “It is exciting to see it celebrated and we appreciate their continued efforts to achieve excellence in classroom.”

All totaled, 192 made the Dean’s List (3.2+ GPA) which is third-highest mark and most since the COVID terms in 2020. UTC put 226 on the A.D. Honor Roll (3.0+ GPA) which ties for the second-most on record. In addition, 47 had a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall, 15% of all student-athletes at UTC.

- 61% of all student-athletes made the Dean's List (3.2 GPA) … fifth time in last six terms that number has been over 60%.
- 72% of all student-athletes made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA) … over 70% in each of the last six semesters.  
- Men’s basketball topped a 3.0 for the fourth time in the last seven semesters. Seven on the Dean’s List is the second-most. 10 on the Honor Roll is third time with 10+.  
- Women’s basketball tied a program record with 11 on the Dean’s List. Tied for second-most with 12 on the AD Honor Roll. Tied for second-most with four 4.0 GPAs. 
- Women’s cross country/track & field set a program record with 24 on the AD Honor Roll. 
- Men’s tennis hit a 3.6 for the sixth time in the last seven terms. 
- Soccer had its third-highest GPA on record. Program-record 27 on the Dean’s List. Tied a record (fall 2016) with 27 on the A.D. Honor Roll.  
- Wrestling had its second-highest GPA on record (3.23 in Spring 2020). Program record 19 on the Dean’s List. Program record 23 on the A.D. Honor Roll. Tied a mark (Fall 2015 and 2017) with five 4.0s.
