BOWLING GREEN, Ky. --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's team impressed with its second-straight victory to open the season following a 5-2 road win over WKU on Friday afternoon in Bowling Green, Ky.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga begins the year 2-0 for the fourth-straight season. WKU falls to 1-1 following the defeat.
 
The Mocs opened the match with a 1-0 lead following a clean sweep of all three doubles matches. In singles action, UTC saw victories at No. 2 (Jessie Young), No. 3 (Caroline Gibbens), No. 5 (Lucia Garrigues-Melendez) and No. 6 (Pippa Bosman).
 
"The women did an amazing job today," said head coach Chad Camper. "To win all three doubles matches against such a quality team is impressive.
 
"Every time WKU picked up the intensity, the ladies matched it and exceed. It was another great collegiate match."
 
Young/Gibbens clinched the doubles point in the top pairing following a 6-4 decision after Nicole Abel/Melendez kicked off the action with a 6-3 victory in the No. 2 spot. The Bosman sisters rolled to a 6-3 win in the third pairing.
 
Young (5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-3) and P. Bosman (6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-2) both earned hard-fought wins in singles action in which all the two matches went to three sets. Melendez (6-4, 7-6 (3)) and Gibbens (6-2, 6-2) both posted straight-set winners during the team victory.
 
Chattanooga (2-0) will next face Lee University on Sunday, January 29, at 6 p.m. ET. The home location will be posted on the schedule page leading up to first serve.
