HOMEWOOD, Ala. --- Despite a strong defensive battle, Samford put in a pair of goals to get a 2-0 win over Chattanooga in the season finale for both teams with each fighting for seeding in the upcoming Southern Conference Tournament this week.
Samford got its first goal just before the half, getting past Chattanooga's defense in the 42
nd minute. The second goal came in the 81
st minute. The Bulldogs outshot Chattanooga 21-7 and had a 9-2 shots on goal advantage.

Caroline Ekern recorded seven saves in the match, one shy of her season high.
Chattanooga ends the regular season at 10-6-1 and 4-4-1 in league play, finishing with a SoCon record of .500 or better for the ninth time in program history and sixth of the
Gavin McKinney era. This marks the fourth time the Mocs have recorded 10 or more wins.
The preseason favorite Bulldogs finish the season 10-3-5 overall and 6-1-2 against the SoCon and tie ETSU for second place.
Western Carolina claimed the regular season title last Sunday. ETSU beat the Catamounts today to earn the No. 2 seed. The two teams will host the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Samford finishes in a tie with ETSU for second and is the No. 3 seed. Furman tied Wofford Sunday and is seeded fourth.
Chattanooga ties with UNCG and Mercer for fifth and is the No. 6 seed and will face Samford in the quarterfinal round in Johnson City, Tenn. UNCG earns the No 5 seed while Mercer is seventh. Mercer and No. 8 Wofford will host first round games against No. 10 The Citadel and ninth-seeded VMI respectively.
The first round games are set for Tuesday, October 24. The quarterfinals are Friday, October 27 with the semifinal round on Sunday. The final will be played either November 4 or 5 and at the home site of the highest seed remaining.
