CHATTANOOGA --- Similar to the already established Pledge Per Win/Pledge Per Touchdown Mocs Club campaign currently rolling on the gridiron, it's time to turn attention to the hardwood with the Pledge Per Win/Pledge Per Three-Pointer initiative ahead of the 2023-24 men's and women's basketball seasons.
This Mocs Club program allows fans to pledge money per win this season of any amount at their comfortable level. In addition, it also promotes fan to pledge any amount for every three-pointer made this season between the men's and women's programs.
Â
"It's another way for our fans to impact our student-athlete experience," Vice-Chancellor for Athletics Mark Wharton noted during the announcement of the football initiative in August. "It's a new campaign for us and one we're excited about. It puts our donors in the middle of the action."
Â
Here's how it works:
- Go to the Mocs Club Pledge Per Win/Three-Pointer page here
- Pledge any amount per victory and/or three-pointer throughout the 2023-24 season
- Watch for the Mocs wins and threes to make a difference throughout the season.
Weekly updates are provided by email with pledges charged at the conclusion of the season. The first 25 people to pledge $25 or more per win or three-pointer will receive exclusive Mocs basketball apparel.
Â
Last season, that would have resulted in $950 contribution for wins (38) OR $14,525 per three-pointer (581). It's especially impactful as the men's program finished the 2022-23 season first in NCAA DI in threes made (398) while
Dan Earl's teams have finished either first or second in that category the past three full seasons (excluding COVID 2020-21).
Â
How does it directly impact student-athletes? The Mocs Club is the philanthropic arm of the athletics department. Every dollar it raises directly impacts the championship experience for student-athletes. The most notable is scholarships working to give all programs the necessary tools to bring a competitive and complete student-athlete base.
Â
Other ways to support comes through reserved funds that aid in a variety of ways. Sports medicine, athletics performance, nutrition and academic support services are examples that allow student-athletes to be the best version of themselves in and out of their sport and classroom.
