Makenzie Cooper tied for second leading the Chattanooga Mocs to a third-place finish at the Mercer Invitational.

FORSYTH, Ga.---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team dueled until the end Tuesday at the Mercer Invitational. The ladies finished third with a final round 299 providing an 888 total.
The Mocs finished two behind co-champs Mercer and Samford with 878. The host Bears closed with 293, while the Bulldogs shot 300 for the final 18.
Sophomore Makenzie Cooper had a tremendous finish with 4-under 68. That vaulted her 23 spots into a tie for second with Richmond's Hannah Lydic and Morehead State MacKenzie Moore at 1 under. The trio trailed Tsubasa Kajitani of Seminole State who won by seven strokes shooting 208.
Giulia Foresta was next on the list today with 73. Violeta Fernandez-Tagle managed 77 with Kera Healey and Nieves Martin each tallying 81.
Foresta tied for 12th at 219 (+3) for her best finish in this her freshman campaign. Fernandez-Tagle was one back, tied for 14th at 220. Healey shot 227 for her three cards followed by Martin's 230.
The Mocs return to the tee Feb. 23-25 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational at Great Waters Club in Eatonton, Ga.
