HEAD COACH SHAWN POPPIE
On getting the win on the road despite struggling on offense
"It's first time all year we've had a game where they did a really good job taking away Raven Thompson. She did not have a field goal tonight and obviously we gotta learn how to score when she's not."

"They really sucked in and forced her to shoot and for whatever reason she didn't want to shoot. I don't know. She became very passive. And we got to learn from it. First time she's seen that this year."

"To come out with a win, gritty on the road, any win is a good win. On the road is even better. It gives us some stuff to work on, you know. I think some of this today's a little bit my fault. We had a long trip last week. We tried to ease into this this week as we kind of got back off the road. I'm not sold that I had them prepared well enough for tonight. That's all on me."

We still had spurts that were pretty good. A stretch in the fourth we were not, but we got just enough stops, just enough buckets to get out of here with the win. It's a really good opportunity for us to learn."

On Hannah Kohn
"She's still gotta continue to search for it. I thought she left a few opportunities out there. I got on her in front of my bench. She has it and wants to just get rid of it. 'You're open and you're the one of the best, if not the best that I've seen. Let it go.' She wasn't to drive which is okay, but that's got to be her secondary option and she's learning She's a freshman. She's giving us some really quality minutes. I tell you what, her defense is much improved, which is gonna allow us to play here some more."

Final thoughts
"I'm excited about the team we have. We've got to continue to build, continue to learn. Today's on me. I did not ever prepare. We will be prepared for Sunday. I think there'll be a lot more motivation but also our home crowd. I'm excited to see how many people show up and show out at The Mackenzie Arena."

Jada Guinn, Gr., G
On what Kennesaw State brought to the table tonight.
"They played pretty physical, they were athletic and we knew they were gonna shoot the ball and chase it. Their field goal percentage wasn't good and they kind of played an ugly style of basketball, but a win is a win and I'm happy we got the dub."

On her rebounding performance.
"Coach Poppie honestly kind of got on me about my rebounding. We knew their bigs were doing a really good job of crashing the boards, so we told our posts 'don't let them get the ball' and after that I was just trying to go and rebound because I knew our posts weren't going to let their posts get it. I was just trying to get to the ball first"

On hosting Mississippi State on Sunday.
"We do a pretty good job on not focusing on who the team is. We know who we are and we want to play our brand of basketball, so we're going to prepare for them like we prepare for any other team. But I am excited."
