HEAD COACH SHAWN POPPIE
Â
On getting the win and staying in first
"It wasn't pretty but it got the job done. I thought Yazz got off to a very slow start, but I thought she came up huge when we needed her. Addie Grace played very solid. Her percentages probably got hurt because I was trying to eat the clock down the stretch and forcer her to throw up some stuff.
Â
"Proud of our effort. It was a good response after last weekend and now we've got to build on it. One more here to finish this thing out which is to head up to Greensboro and finish it out the right way before we get to Asheville.
Â
"I don't know what happened in the league tonight. To be honest with you, I don't even necessarily overly care because regardless, we go and win in Greensboro we are considered champs, one way or the other. So with that said, I'm really proud of the group tonight and we look forward to getting to Greensboro."

On Sigrun Olafsdottir's defensive effort
"[WCU's] Kyla Allison is a really good ballplayer. Eight points we forced her to 10 turnovers. We kind of mixed up our coverages so it was a team effort, but it really started with Sigrun.
Â
On getting outscored in the second quarter
"It's kind of little stuff. We've been preaching body language and going and making things happen. I just thought we relaxed a little bit. That's kind of been a thing with this team as we continue to mature it's really hurt us. I think some of it goes back to when we struggled to score. We have times for whatever reason that we kind of hang our shoulders and that's where the body language [comes in]. Like we said in the in the pregame [interview] we've taken 26,000 shots in the last however many months and we did the numbers and you miss one shot so be it you know, all right. And that's where I was proud of Yazz. She kind of shot herself out of it but it was a lot with how she was carrying herself.
