HEAD COACH SHAWN POPPIE
Opening statement
"First and foremost, thanks for all the fans that came out today. It's a fun environment to play in front of with as much support as we get as especially as we continue to build it. And after following what our performance look like last Saturday, and still come back means a lot. So very appreciative of everyone that showed up and how loud they were. It means a lot to our young people."
Â
"With that said, I thought our kids competed and played hard. That's kind of our theme of the week was play hard and when things don't go well play harder. I thought that was kind of something that we let ourselves down last weekend. It's a lot easier to play hard though when the ball goes through the basket like it did. We executed very, very well. Screen, passed and made the right plays and then stepped into it and shot with some confidence. So overall, very, very pleased. But now it's time to learn how to handle success and try to get this thing moving forward. We have a really big week as we head down to Mercer and Samford this upcoming week."

Rallying back after a loss last Saturday
"It speaks volumes of who we have in a locker room. That's what I just told them. We were all very disappointed but then how are you gonna respond? You gonna do anything about it? Are you going to just kind of feel sorry for yourself? Instead we rolled our sleeves up and went back to work. We challenged them as a staff. I know they kind of challenged each other in some things that they did together as a team this week to try to rally around each other. It did help with us to go back to the drawing board and how do we make the game easier for us offensively. That's been a struggle when we can't score it's really hard to keep getting stop after stop after stop. And so a big adjustment for us with a week of time was how do we play through Raven on the block and so we were able to put in, you know, seven, eight different actions to get it there. Now once we got there, we had execute and we did today. I think it allowed the game to be a little bit easier for Yazz. Obviously Addie Grace has to step up and make some shots. So a week helps."

The importance of Raven to the Mocs game
"I knew she was going to play a pretty good role. But we've turned it into we're going through her. I've had a lot of conversation with her. She is a workhorse. She's very important for us. And I'm very, very proud of her. If you [had seen] her this summer, none of us would have believed her to be where she is but the kid has worked her tail off and a wonderful, wonderful kid."
