ABOUT CHATTANOOGA GOLF
CHATTANOOGA---The Chattanooga Mocs women's golf team shot 308 to open the Chattanooga Classic at Council Fire Golf Club Sunday. The Mocs sit in 12th, two behind Campbell and one ahead of ETSU in 13th.
Dorota Zalewska led the way with a 1-over 73. She's tied for eighth overall.
Carolina Hortian was next with 77 as
Megan Docherty and
Kera Healey closed the counting cards with twin 79s.
Nieves Martin had the drop at 87, while
Isabella Yu Lee also shot 79 playing as an individual.
SMU took the early lead with level-par 288. That's five better than Notre Dame in second and eight ahead of Minnesota and Augusta in a tie for third. The Fighting Irish's Lauren Beaudreau is the early leader with a 4-under 68.
Round two starts at 9 a.m., with the teams leading off holes 1 and 10. The Mocs are paired off No. 10 with Grand Canyon and Campbell beginning with Martin at 9:50 a.m., and continuing in 10-minute intervals ending with Zaleska at 10:30 a.m.
