CHATTANOOGA --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team earned a clean 7-0 sweep over UNCG during Southern Conference action on a beautiful Sunday morning at the UTC Tennis Center on campus.
 
Following the win, Chattanooga improves to 13-5 overall this season and evens its league record at 2-2. UNCG fell to 4-14 on the season with an 0-5 mark inside conference play.
 
"I'm so impressed with the team today. We came out and just battled today," said head coach Chad Camper.
 
"This team is really starting to come together. Everybody did a fantastic job today."
 
Chattanooga claimed a 1-0 lead after doubles action following victories at all three positions. The duos of Jessie Young and Caroline Gibbens and Lucia Garrigues-Melendez and Rozalie Dohnalova posted similar 6-4 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots while Nicole Abel and Callie Billman blanked UNCG's No. 3 pairing 6-0.
 
In singles play, UTC earned victories at all six positions to clinch the 7-0 sweep. Young notched the first singles victory at No. 1 with a 6-2, 6-0 decision before Dohnalova's 6-2, 6-2 and Garrigues-Melendez's 6-2, 6-3 victories at No. 4 and No. 5.
 
Billman cleaned up the No. 6 matchup with a 6-3, 6-3 victory before Nicole Abel completed comebacks in both sets to post a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 3. Gibbens finished the shutout with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win at No. 2 in tiebreak fashion.
 
Chattanooga returns to action this Thursday, April 6 when they host SoCon-foe Furman. First serve is set for 1 p.m. ET at the UTC Tennis Center with live stats available at GoMocs.com.
