Women’s Golf’s Dorota Zalewska Named Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C — Chattanooga Mocs women's golfer Dorota Zalewska '23 has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week following her NCAA Regional title last week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
The first-ever NCAA Regional champ for the women's golf program at UTC earns the academic award for the third time in her career.
Her 12-under finish marked the program's 54-hole record tally and is the 12th time of her career finishing par or better in an event which doubles her nearest competition, former teammate Esme Hamilton '22, who had six from 2019-22.
That field included 18 ranked in the top 100 per Golfstat including #3 Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest), No. 6 Charlotte Heath Florida State), No. 14 Lauren Walsh (Wake Forest) and No. 16 Lottie Woad (Florida State). Dorota beat the top 20 quartet by 15, 13, 22 and 10 strokes, respectively.
Zalewska advances to the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. She tackles the field from May 19-22 in the stroke play portion of the event.
