UTC Chancellor Dr. Steven Angle with football All-American McClendon Curtis.
The Chattanooga Mocs celebrated one of its largest graduating classes with 48 current and former student-athletes earned graduate and undergraduate degrees this weekend. Athletic programs across the board were well represented at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's 261
st Commencement ceremonies on Friday and Saturday in McKenzie Arena.
This year's group included:
- 11 who earned Master's Degrees
- 16 who graduated with honors
- 12 who earned All-Southern Conference recognition during their careers
- 16 who won at least one SoCon title during their careers.
Highlighted among the honors graduates are Simon Labbe (Management) and Avery Catlett (Psychology). Labbe was an All-SoCon member of the men's tennis team who helped UTC secure its first-ever regular season SoCon Championship in April. Catlett accomplished the same feat with the soccer team in the fall.
Other SoCon champions who graduated with honors include women's basketball's Audrey Canter (SORT Management) and soccer's AK Anderson (Exercise Science), Grace Klippenstein (Mechanical Engineering) and Sydney Weinstein (Criminal Justice).
Other standouts who graduated this weekend included recent Las Vegas Raider signee McClendon Curtis who earned his Master's degree in Education, 2022 SoCon Football Defensive Player of the Year Jay Person and 2022 football All-American Ailym Ford who earned their degrees in SORT Management and 2022 SoCon Women's Golf Champion Dorota Zalweska who finished her degree in Exercise Science.
