CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Chattanooga women's soccer team made its return to Finley Stadium Saturday afternoon in an exhibition against Western Kentucky. The Mocs fell 2-0 to the Hilltoppers.

Chattanooga outshot Western Kentucky 12-5 and had a first half goal called back on a handball infraction. Head coach
Gavin McKinney was able to get most of his team into the match and kept up the pressure on the Hilltoppers throughout. The Mocs had six shots on goal and a hit off the crossbar in the first half.

Western Kentucky's first goal came in the second half on a penalty kick. The second hit in the bottom right in the 71
st minute.

Birna Johannsdottir had three shots to pace Chattanooga.

Caroline Richvalsky each fired two shots apiece and all five had a shot on goal. Transfer
Nicole Solete had the Mocs 12
th shot and sixth shot on goal in the match.

Caroline Ekern made the start in the net for Chattanooga and tallied on save in 82:27. She was relieved by freshman
Claire Smith late in the match.

Chattanooga hits the road for a pair of exhibitions. UTC will travel to Murray State on Tuesday, August 8 and close out the preseason at Georgia State on August 13.

The regular season opens on August 17 at Vanderbilt and the home opener is slated for August 31 against Austin Peay at Finley Stadium. Admission is free and the gate opens one hour prior to kickoff.
