Shawn Poppie, head coach
On his overall thoughts on the team's 69-59 win over WCU.
"Hats off to WCU, I thought they played extremely hard and put us on our heels defensively most of the game. With that said, I'm proud of our team for finding a way to win on the road. Jada and Raven had really impressive offensive performances when we needed them most. Our point guard combination of Caia and Addie Grace created some momentum in both halves I thought. I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't talk about Sigrun. She is our glue that makes so many little plays, a big big part of why this team wins games."
On hosting Wofford and Furman this coming week.
"We will have to be better next weekend with Wofford and Furman coming to town. We will be! Come and show this team some love Chattanooga and all of Moc Nation, it will be a really big weekend in the Roundhouse."
Jada Guinn, Gr., G
On her 30-point performance.
"I was just coming out and being aggressive. Every game Coach Poppie and my teammates are just telling me to score so I was just taking what the defense gave me. That was one of our keys before was to just take what they give you, so that's what I was doing."
On the team's ability to win on the road.
"We just execute our game plan. We don't focus on it being an away game, we approach every game the same way. We take it a game at a time and try to play our best so we can continue the winning streak."
Addie Grace Porter, Jr., G
On what she was telling the team as they entered the fourth quarter down by one.
"I was just saying that we gotta stick with it and stick to the game plan, which we didn't really do the whole game. We kinda just let them do what they wanted. We wanted to try to limit what their strengths are and make them do something that they're not used to. We just needed to play hard and stay together through it all and not let any emotions get into it too much. Just stay the course."
On the things she does for the team that don't show up on the stat sheet.
"It's usually how I like to play, just playing hard the whole game. In tight games like that, every little play matters. It's something that Coach Poppie says a lot. Just knowing that everything we do, every pass, every rebound and every play down the stretch is going to matter. I just take that to heart and I don't take the game lightly."
On the team's next game against second place Wofford.
"It's a big game, but it's a big game because it's the next one. That's how we have to look at every game we play. We can't get too caught up in what's ahead, but this next one is our biggest one because it's up next on the schedule. We take this week of practice in and prepare like champions, that'll get us a dub on Thursday."
