Mocs Post 3.187 Fall GPA

Football All-American Reid Williams (Engineering Technology Management) and 2023 SoCon 1500M Outdoor Track champion Lesley Boyd (MBA) were among the 66 Mocs to post a 4.0 GPA in the fall.

UTC had over 200 student-athletes make the AD Honor Roll for the eighth time.

Student-athletes at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga posted a 3.187 grade-point-average for the recently completed fall semester.  It is the 11th-straight semester the Mocs have topped the 3.0 mark. In fact, UTC has not dropped below a 3.17 during this impressive stretch. 

A total of 212 student-athletes, 68 percent of the combined rosters for all sports, made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll with a 3.0 or higher. In addition, 178 of those earned Dean’s List recognition with a 3.2 or higher. There were also 66 earning a 4.0 GPA, the second-highest number on record. 

“It never gets old praising our student-athletes for the work they do in the classroom,” stated Vice Chancellor & Director of Athletics Mark Wharton. “They work hard in all aspects of their collegiate life, and I am proud to see them recognized for their efforts.

“We should also commend the work of our Student-Athlete Academic Enhancement Staff, led by Dr. Emily Blackman. They kept the standard of academic success at a high level, despite being displaced from their offices over the last year due to our Wolford Center construction project.  They all made the best of a tough situation and continued to serve our student-athletes in an exemplary fashion.” 

Some notables on the list of 4.0s include football All-American Reid Williams (Engineering Technology Management), 2023 OVC Beach Volleyball Player of the Year Neva Clark (Exercise Science) and 2023 SoCon 1500M Outdoor Track champion Lesley Boyd (MBA).

Soccer led all teams with a program record 3.707 GPA. Wrestling also set a program high with a 3.239.

Academic Notes
- 3.187 overall GPA ties for the seventh highest on record … top nine have come in the last nine terms.
- 58% of all student-athletes made the Dean's List (3.2 GPA) and 68% of all student-athletes made the Athletics Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA).
- 21% of all student-athletes (66 overall) had a perfect 4.0 GPA … second highest number and percentage on record. 
- 212 student-athletes made the A.D. Honor Roll … eighth time with 200+ posting a 3.0 GPA or better. 
- Soccer led all teams with a program record 3.707 … topped the 3.6 mark for the fourth time in program history … 12 of the last 14 terms have been over a 3.5.
- Wrestling set a program record with a 3.239 … also set new marks with 24 on the honor roll, 17 on the Dean’s List and six with a 4.0 GPA. 
- Women’s basketball had a 3.375, third best mark on record.
- Beach Volleyball set a program mark with 12 on the AD Honor Roll and tied a record with 11 on the Dean’s List.
- Football set a program record with 13 student-athletes earning a 4.0 GPA. 
- Softball had 19 make the Dean’s List, one off the program mark.  
- Men’s tennis set program records with 13 on the honor roll and 12 on the Dean’s List. 
- Volleyball had a 3.63 GPA as a team … sixth semester in a row with a 3.5 or better. 
- All eight members of the women's golf roster made the A.D. Honor Roll, tying a program record.
