Head Coach Deandra Schirmer
Opening Statement
"We talked about in practice leading up to this game of how much we value today's game. The value that we assess to it was one we've been working really, really hard, and we've been, I feel like making progress towards our ultimate goal and where we want to be at but we haven't gotten the instant gratification of the win. And so from you know, staying together as a group, understanding that this was a big game for us to come out and to showcase that we are getting better, that we are making the strides, the adjustments that we're talking about in practice. We're making those adjustments, and then also to come out with the win and to come out with the dominant win that we did. I'm very proud of this group. I feel like a lot of times this can be somewhat of a trap game where, you know, you got one game before the holiday break, and they might not be locked in, or they might not be as focused, but, you know, starting off that first half, and in the first quarter they we only gave up eight points. Second quarter, only gave up three points. I really feel like our group was really locked in and definitely proud of the focus and determination and finishing out for 40 minutes."
On what was most gratifying in this win
"The most gratifying thing for me is that we've been teaching playing as five and playing together and we had 23 assists on 38 made baskets. So when you think about that, the majority of our made baskets are off assists. We're not just out her and one player is doing it. We're doing it as a group and as a unit. We've talked about with our system, that's the way you've got to be to be successful. And so the unselfish play, playing together. A lot of our steals – we had 16 – a lot of that is off of gaps. A lot of that is helping our teammates, defending as five. So I think the unity of us and how we played on offense and defense was probably the thing that was most gratifying tonight."
On integration of all players into the game
"It's huge. There's been a lot of time when we're trying to get some players integrated and there might be injury setbacks. One of those players, Masa, she's somebody that we've been trying to get into the lineup. She's been dealing with some nagging injuries and stuff. She came out, was able to play well. Then having Jada Moore. She's a proven scorer at this level. She averaged 10 points per game at her last institution. I know the staff is excigted for what she's able to give, but also our players. I don't know if you saw when she lined up for the first one, everybody stood up on the bench because we all knew it was going to go in. We know the work that she puts in. We know the kind of player that she is. To see her have a moment like that and feel comfortable and not just do it from shooting threes, she also had a great assist to Sigrun [Olafsdottir] in transition. So adding that dynamic in, I feel like we've kind of been withstanding a lot and now we were able to attack. It felt good for us to come out and be aggressive both offensively and defensively."

On the goal for today's game
"We all just wanted to win. We were locked in, we were focused. The goal today was 40 minutes, so what we tried to do was 40 minutes. We wanted to get the win."
On where her game is now
"I feel confident. More of what she [Coach Schirmer] wants me to do with talking or just assisting, scoring or rebounding. Just going over every day in practice, doing what we need to do to get better."
