CHATTANOOGA (Feb. 16, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team displayed a late rally but ultimately fell 5-2 to Troy in a non-conference match on Friday evening inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at the McCallie School.
 
After the defeat, Chattanooga drops to 4-6 on the season and has fallen in its last three. Troy improves to 5-1 on the season after the victory.
 
The duo of Rozalie Dohnalova and Alice Hall opened doubles action with a convincing 6-2 victory for the Mocs. The Trojans earned the team point with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 and a 6-4 winner at No. 2 to grab a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
In singles, Dohnalova cruised her way to a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Kristina Kukaras in the No. 1 slot as she improved her season record to 7-3 and evened the match at 1-1. Troy claimed the No. 6 singles match before Caroline Gibbens posted a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 to pull things even once again, 2-2.
 
The Trojans' Maria Guirguis completed a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 comeback win over Alice Hall at the No. 4 position to give the visitors a 3-2 lead with two matches remaining. Despite a strong rally, Emma Pedretti fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to Leena Metwally on the No. 5 court, allowing Troy to clinch the match.
