RICHMOND, Ky. (Feb. 3, 2024) --- The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team posted a 7-0 shutout victory over Northern Kentucky in a neutral site matchup on Saturday afternoon inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center in Richmond, Ky.
 
Following the win in the first-ever matchup against NKU, Chattanooga evens its record this spring season to 3-3. NKU drops to 0-4 on the young season after the defeat.
 
"It was a great team win today," said head coach Chad Camper after the victory. "We played aggressive and had to use strategy to win on a lot of the courts."
 
Chattanooga opened the match with a 1-0 lead after claiming a pair of victories in doubles action while one match went unfinished. Emma Peeler and Carolina Gibbens posted a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles before Margaret Manolache and Emma Pedretti clinched the team point with a 6-3 win at No. 3.
 
In singles, Peeler made it 2-0 in favor of UTC after capturing a 6-3, 1-0 (retired) win at the No. 3 slot before Manolache earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 and Rozalie Dohnalova posted a 6-3, 6-2 winner at the top spot. Alice Hall won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 while Gibbens posted a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win at No. 2 and Pedretti a 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 tie-breaking win at No. 5.
 
Chattanooga (3-3) returns to action tomorrow with a 10 a.m. ET meeting against host EKU. Match coverage links are located on the schedule page.
